How a Dentist Became a Consultant in Infection Control
Hello, Iā€™m Roslyn Franklin, founder and director of Amalgamate Consulting.
The journey to creating Amalgamate Consulting started in 2015 when a dental colleague approached me for help with his practiceā€™s accreditation. Surprisingly, I found I really enjoyed the process! He suggested I offer similar support to other dental practitioners and practices. At the time, I had been considering ways to re-enter the dental industry without returning 'on-the-tools,' and this opportunity sparked a new path for me.
With a love for order, regulations, and paperwork, I combined my experience as a dentist, educator, and compliance specialist to launch Amalgamate Consulting. My goal was clear: to provide practical, hands-on support to dental practices in navigating the complex world of infection control and accreditation.
A few years into the business, I recognised the need to deepen my knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC). I decided to "bite the bullet" and return to university, completing post-graduate studies in IPC in 2018. This decision solidified my expertise and enabled me to provide even more value to my clients.
My Why
I understand the pressures and responsibilities that come with running a dental practice. As a former practitioner myself, I know how overwhelming it can be to stay compliant with ever-changing standards and regulations. My passion lies in making infection control simple, practical, and easy to apply.
By working directly with practice owners, dental practitioners, and their teams, I aim to demystify infection prevention and control. I teach "The What, The Why, and The How" of infection control ā€” a structured approach that turns abstract guidelines into clear, actionable steps.
With extensive experience in both public and private dental practices and years of training and teaching dental assistants, I bring a well-rounded perspective to the table. My post-graduate studies in infection prevention and control keep me ahead of industry changes, ensuring I provide clients with current, relevant solutions.
